Lusitano Cars, which is fully funded by investors and entrepreneurs with extensive experience, was formed in 2014 when the assets and rights after the Swedish manufacturer Indigo Cars were acquired.
2014- 2018 development of Lusitano 3000R
Since 2014, the development of the 3000R is progressing. A sports car with its DNA from Swedish technology and classic sport cars values.
Lusitano 3000R is fitted with a 2,9 liter straight 6-cylinder engine supported with a Bi-Turbo installation. With it’s power of 306 hp and 471 Nm, whereof 420 Nm is reach already at 1800 rpm, it delivers pure driving pleasure and performance. The new engine is based on Swedish proven technology. Customization for mounting in longitudinal and to withstand higher G-forces have been taken. A new electrical architecture has been designed for engine management control and the car in general. The combination of the engine configuration and the car’s character with a sporty response is suitable for modern GT driving. Last but not least, the engine is approved according to the Euro 6 WLTP emission requirements.
A trend among sports cars enthusiasts is to return to the classical manual gearboxes. A natural choice for Lusitano 3000R Signature Series therefore is a 5 speed-Stick Shift. In combination with a dry clutch this reinforces the drivers overall experience and retro flirt, that car so successfully emits.
Chassis and suspension
With smart deformation zones and a galvanized steel tube construction the construction reaches modern requirements regarding crash safety and torsional rigidity. The characteristic push-rod suspension in the front suspension with a transverse composite leaf spring is recognized from the previous generation. A newly developed aluminium fuel tank with improved space optimalisation has resulted in a lower center of gravity and more stable rear suspension with multi-link, who, like the front suspension has a transverse composite leaf spring.
Of course, other parts have been updated. It’s everything from electrical systems, Interior, instrumentation, brakes, convertible-mechanism, aerodynamics, lighting, exterior design, the front and rear lights, etc.
